My Little Girl Is Getting Big!

Hi Little Girl,

That's what I've been calling you for a while now, but soon it won't quite fit anymore. You're getting so big, and I can't believe that it's been six months since I wrote a post for you on your blog (Mommy is much more prolific). You're sitting up all by yourself, and you are rolling around now, almost but not quite crawling. You are up over sixteen pounds! The last six months have been a blur for me. I keep saying what your Grandma (my mommy) used to say to me: "We're gonna have to put a brick on your head!"

You're also pretty assertive these days, and sometimes it's hard to figure out exactly what you want. You and I spent the afternoon together today while Mommy went on an errand for work. I had a wonderful time with you. I think you mostly had a great time with me too, although I think there were some moments when you missed Mommy.

I love getting to know your unique personality, and I love you more and more every day. I just know that as you continue to grow up you are going to make me so proud. In fact, you already do. I look forward to watching you grow up, but I will probably also look back on these times and wish that they had lasted a little longer.

Always remember that I love you bigger than the mountains, little girl. Thank you for changing my life.

Love, Dad

Oh dear...

(as Rob reminded you, dear sweet Becket, you are twice her age!)

A techie just like Daddy?

Now which one of these buttons turns on Baby Einstein?!?

Happy 1/2 Birthday!

It's AMAZING how fast she changes. She's like a different baby every few weeks, but especially this time. Before, she mostly reacted to her world. Now she interacts with and manipulates her surroundings- and doesn't miss a thing. She rolls and scoots and sits and falls- I can't take my eyes off her for a second. She is so aware, energetic, happy and outgoing. I've noticed that I have less and less free time, so I will probably not be blogging so often...

Case in point: I wrote the above paragraph three weeks ago.

She's now six months old. Half a year. She has cut two teeth. OMG! (as they say)

Doc said everything looks great- she weighs 16 lbs, 1 oz. and is 25 inches long. He gave us the green light for rice cereal, but so far she hasn't been interested. I always look forward to her appointments, perhaps a little too much, since sometimes those are our exciting outings of the week...

In related news...

I've taken a very-part-time job (a few hours a week) as a site coordinator for Lesley University, where I worked before Kathryn arrived. I can do most of the job from home and have her with me, and once a group starts, it will just mean a weekend of extra Daddy time once a month. Everyone wins!

In unrelated news...

I've cut my hair and dyed it red!

Here are some pictures from the last few weeks. Write your own captions. Also, any ideas of what she should dress up as for Halloween?

Toofers!

Where does it hurt?

So I know that a few months ago I thought Kathryn was teething. It turns out she wasn't yet... she is NOW. We actually had to leave a restaurant the other night because she could not be consoled. Poor little girl! She is feeling much better now though. Between gnawing on teething rings and frozen washcloths she seems to take care of it herself.

Here you can see (barely) the bottom teeth cutting through.

Well, it's not all bad. Pretty soon she'll be able to use those chompers to eat some new and exciting foods!

How big is Kathryn?

SOOOoooOOO big!

How I love to go up in a swing...

Jade's Birthday

I can't believe the little squirt is 2 already! Kathryn and Jade are the best of friends, and we had a really fun time celebrating with her. Kathryn even got to swim in a real pool for the first time!

Uh oh, time to go in!

Much happier after warming up and having some lunch!

Kathryn sure loves her Grandma!

Happy birthday, cousin Jade!
