Science party

Kathryn asked for a science-themed birthday this year. I really like that a lot of the things we made and bought for the party continue to be among their favorite toys.

Preparations

Dry ice and color mixing

Dry ice bubble

Elephant toothpaste

Cupcake bar with test tube sprinkles and Pop Rocks

Diet Coke and Mentos

The lab

Microscope views of sugar and salt

Holograms

Balancing eagle

Light up microscope
Magnets
Tornado tube complete with tiny Monopoly house

We also had science books, coins in balloons, an ant farm, a small human body model and performed experiments with milk and food coloring. It was such a beautiful day that the kids were able to play outside during set-up. I also think the grown-ups had as much fun as the kids... at least I did.

Now we are six

Happy birthday to our wonderful Kathryn-Kate!

The Flat Foot Floogie

...for Great Grandma Floy of course. ♥

This picture was taken when cousin Jesse and his wife Annie were in town. The kids took to them right away as they did to cousin Wes when he visited as well. We all had a great time. Rob was even introduced to gluten-free deliciousness and is a recent convert.

Party like there's no toMaya

Mom and Kurt put on the best party on December 21st.
There was incredible themed food (my memory and description could not do it justice).
We shot zombies with pellets in suits; volunteer firefighting cousin Lance set the impressive record.
Shelly and the girls saved us from a "meteor".
We even played Catchphrase Apocalyptic Doom edition.
I'm hoping for a part two in the spring!

Lakewood Christmas

To all a good morning!

Kate the science kid
Wait a minute, this looks familiar
Ping pong gear
  Mind challenges

It was a special time and we continued our traditions of decorating gingerbread houses, singing carols and devouring far too much delicious food.
