Huntington Children's Garden

We spent a gorgeous afternoon here with Aunt Jenny. It's no wonder it's been the set for movies.
We could have spent all day here; maybe on our next trip out we will.

{this moment} - A Friday ritual. A single photo - no words - capturing a moment from the week. A simple, special, extraordinary moment. A moment I want to pause, savor and remember.

The lighthouse

We visited a nearby lighthouse, and spent over an hour there, maybe two, because the kids enjoyed it so much. It was lovely and charming, but especially so to them.

The BEEEEEEEEEACH!!!

One of our very favorite things to do in San Diego is to visit Ocean Beach.
Kathryn was most content to play in the sand and on the shore, while Niamh enjoyed that as well as being carried into the waves. Actually, on one occasion while leaving the beach during this visit she threw the fit of her life. "I want to go to the BEEEEEEEEEACH!!!" I think she liked it.

Tide pools

We visited some nearby tide pools only to learn they didn't open until well after low tide.
We still had an excellent time, and saw hundreds of crabs in the walls as well as many sea anemones.

Our California vacation begins

We started our trip spending lots of quality time with Grandpa and Granny.
Here Neevie and Grandpa are relaxing in the backyard oasis.

Granny treated the girls to lemon cake, complete with fresh lemon (from their tree, I believe).

She also hosted a slumber party for the cousins, a much-anticipated tradition.
The girls enjoyed the incredible front steps view of the Sea World fireworks.

After the movie, the kids went to the trailer with Granny for stories and bedtime.
I don't know how she does it!

We also went to Sea World which is always a great time.
I couldn't decide whether this creature was beautiful or terrifying.
